Castle Fraser is one of the grandest and best-preserved tower houses in Scotland, located near Inverurie in Aberdeenshire. Dating mainly from the late 15th and early 16th centuries, it was the ancestral seat of the Clan Fraser of Muchalls and later became associated with the Fraser family of Philorth. The castle is renowned for its distinctive Z-plan tower-house design, with a tall central block and projecting corner towers. Its dramatic turrets, corbelled parapets, and spiral staircases give it
