Compost worms (aka Eisenia fetida) can survive in your garden if your soil is well covered in mulch and there’s plenty of organic matter for them to munch on. These hungry little compost critters have evolved to live on the surface of the soil, right below leaf litter. They are not nearly as powerful as earthworms, so they won’t burrow into your soil, but they serve lots of important roles within the soil food web and their 💩 is nutrient packed. So don’t feel freaked out about transferring them
