Turn your sound up for something incredible! Male spectacled eiders give a soft "hoo hoo" call during their courtship behaviors, which sounds like a low hum. The sound is so soft and low that it can be hard to hear, and it has only been recorded in spectacled eiders in human care. The eiderdown is a type of down feather, which is a soft and fine layer of feathers located under the eider duck's tougher exterior feathers. It stays dry thanks to the air trapped within and it's the only kind of down that these ducks naturally shed during molting.
