If you love the original Pennsylvania Turnpike as much as I do you would be appalled to know that The turnpike commission is about to destroy one of the unused tunnels built by Vanderbilt in the late 1800s., As part of the 6 lane widening process of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.This is the Quemahoning tunnel at mile post 106.4. You are playing with your life stopping here as there very little space off of the highway so I do not recommend it. | Stuff Thats Gone
