Paarl fires are under control. Last night fire in Wemmershoek, Franschhoek continues to burn out of control and spread rapidly down the mountain across a large area, threatening surrounding farms along the Wemmershoek Road (R301) anf R45. Visitors at Avondale farm restaurant were evacuated for safety reasons, fortunately no damage to the farm, and they are open for business today. Wagyu Lodges were also evacuated, as well as the entire farm. They are closed for the day - no serious damage report

The Summer Night Market returns to Lake Pertobe tonight, continuing a tradition that draws locals and visitors alike.
