⚾️On May 11, 1996 tempers flare during the Mets eventual 7-6 win over the Cubs at Shea Stadium. A bench-clearing brawl in the fifth inning started when New York starting pitcher Pete Harnisch and Cubs catcher Scott Servais got into a heated argument at the plate. The seeds to the brawl were planted in the first inning, when Mets catcher Todd Hundley had to duck out the way of an errant pitch by Cubs starter Kevin Foster.
