Houston is visited by the latest cold front, bringing chilly weather Thursday. Another cold front this weekend could leave the area under frost.
A cold front will move through North Texas on Friday, with breezy north winds and low humidity behind it, according to the NWS. Temperatures are expected to reach highs in the lower 60s on Friday afternoon and lows in the mid-30s in the evening.
After a few days of milder high temperatures in the 60s and even 70s with breezy conditions, a big ol' cold front is likely to arrive in North Texas by Friday morning. This will bring gusty north winds and falling temperatures, according to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, with Friday's high slated to be in the high 40s.
To help residents stay safe, the City of Corpus Christi will open an Overnight Warming Shelter at the FEMA Dome at Del Mar College’s Windward Campus 5pm Saturday.
A cold front will move through North Texas on Friday, bringing the coldest air of the winter this weekend. With the front comes strong winds; a wind advisory is in effect west of the Metroplex, where gusts may reach 40 mph. Because of the winds and how dry it has been, there is also an elevated risk for fire danger west of I-35.
A cold font, arriving by Friday night, will set the stage for a chilly weekend and a relatively widespread Texas freeze Saturday night.
