Senators press Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on his past vaccine and abortion remarks in the first of two days of hearings before senators vote on whether to confirm him as President Trump’s health secretary.

Cheryl Hines continued her support for husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at his confirmation hearing to head the Department. The former Democrat and Donald Trump critic sat right behind her husband as he testified before the Senate Finance Committee Wednesday.

After hours of testimony Tuesday, the Senate Committee on Education advanced Senate Bill 2, a school voucher bill, setting it up for a floor vote.

Under Senate Bill 2, families whose income is 500% at or below the federal poverty level would be considered a low-income household. Democrats say the roof is too high.

The proposal, a priority of Gov. Greg Abbott, budgets $1 billion over the next two years to fund the private school vouchers.

A majority of the U.S. Senate on Monday backed President Donald Trump's nomination of Scott Bessent to be Treasury secretary and thus a leading voice in managing the country's economic, fiscal and sanctions policies,

Bessent, 62, is a longtime hedge fund manager, Trump donor and adviser. He'll be the point person for Trump on a host of key economic issues.
