Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente called Gov. Kathy Hochul's executive order barring fired corrections officers from working for the state a "complete overreach."

The Oneida County government is considering legal action against Governor Kathy Hochul for her executive order banning local governments from hiring the 2,000 correction officers who were fired as a result of the prison strike.

An incarcerated man at Oneida County Correctional was found unresponsive in his cell Sunday, and later pronounced dead at Wynn Hospital. An investigation into the incarcerated man's death will be handled by the New York Attorney General's Office.

Gov. Kathy Hochul's executive order targeted around 2,000 corrections officers who participated in a wildcat strike and did not return to work.
