On April 22, a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, killed 28 tourists and injured many, prompting 60% of planned trips to be cancelled, 15,000 flight changes and urgent security measures.

At least 26 people were killed and 17 others wounded when gunmen opened fire on tourists in Indian-controlled Kashmir, the worst assault in years targeting civilians in a restive region that has seen an anti-India rebellion for more than three decades.

Various airlines, including Air India, IndiGo and AI Express, operated seven extra flights on Wednesday to fly out people from there. Srinagar-bound flights also saw many passenger cancellations.
