The NYC mayor decided against publicly announcing the meeting after the White House asked it be kept secret for as long as possible.

Zohran Mamdani, the New York City mayor, secretly visited Donald Trump in the White House on Thursday. The meeting had not been on Mr Mamdani’s public schedule and the reason for the visit was not initially clear. He had been with his entourage in the back of a Delta plane in the morning wearing a black hat and mask, the New York Post reported.
Mamdani’s public schedule, released late Feb. 25, didn’t include any public events. Mamdani wasn’t on the White House’s official schedule.
