Marcos Thomas Perez, a 62-year-old former Heat security guard and longtime Miami police officer, appeared in federal court Tuesday on charges that he stole and resold hundreds of pieces of game-worn memorabilia, including jerseys worn by some of the NBA’s biggest stars.

A former Miami Heat security officer has been accused in federal court of stealing millions of dollars worth of team memorabilia — including a game-worn LeBron James jersey from the 2013 NBA Finals — and selling them to online brokers.

A former member of the Miami Police Department was accused of stealing player-worn jerseys and other items that were then sold.
