A bipartisan U.S. congressional delegation is seeking to reassure Denmark and Greenland after President Donald Trump threatened tariffs if nations don’t support a U.S. takeover of Greenland.

President Donald Trump has had his sights set on Greenland for years. He first offered to buy the island, an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark, in 2019 during his first term in what he described as “essentially a real estate deal.

Officials from Greenland and Denmark, which controls the semi-autonomous territory, as well as a host of major U.S. allies, have rejected Trump’s push.
