Air India has been ordered to maintain the highest safety standards while also setting a month-long timeline to reassess its operations.
A top-level probe is underway after British families whose loved ones perished in last month’s crash were given “co-mingled” remains.
The U.S. assessment is not contained in a formal document, said a source, who emphasized the cause of the deadly crash remains under investigation.
Sumeet Sabharwal, 56, was the captain on the flight, while Clive Kunder, 32, was the co-pilot who was flying the plane. Together, the two pilots had more than 19,000 hours of flight experience - nearly half of it on the Boeing 787. Both had passed all pre-flight health checks before the crash.
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has successfully decoded all data from the black box of the plane that crashed in Ahmedabad, according to Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu.
Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu told Rajya Sabha that the AAIB is unbiased in investigating the Air India plane crash and urged restraint until the final report is released.
Sandhu, who was also a designated examiner for the Boeing 787-8 fleet at Air India, had taken delivery of the now-crashed 787-8 plane -- VT-ANB -- in 2013.
Leaks in western media regarding Air India flight AI 171 crash prompt caution from aviation authorities and pilot bodies.
Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu on Monday asserted that the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is conducting an “unbiased” and “rule-based” investigation into the 12 June crash of Air India flight AI 171 in Ahmedabad,
Naidu also said that in a first of its kind instance, the AAIB has been successful in decoding data from black boxes of the crashed Air India plane in India itself.
The AAIB confirmed that the probe into the crash is being carried out in a "rigorous and most professional manner in accordance with the AAIB Rules and international protocols."
