All of Newar Airport's air control will be handled by one fully qualified person during peak hours on Monday, the New York Post reported

If you're flying for vacation, a veteran air traffic controller is urging you to avoid this one major U.S. airport.

In recent weeks, flights at Newark Airport have been delayed four to fourteen hours. Today, the FAA announced they’ll take action including leaning heavily on controller trainees who are certified in specific positions.

Newark airport saw another radar outage on Monday, as well as dozens of flight cancellations and delays. The FAA is reportedly considering a broad pullback in flights to and from the airport

The root cause is an air traffic controller shortage, a nationwide issue the Trump administration has pledged to fix.

The FAA says over the weekend another air traffic equipment outage resulted in a ground stop for arriving flights at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy says flights in and out of Newark will be scaled back.

"We continue to urge the FAA to address ongoing staffing shortages," a Port Authority spokesperson told Newsweek.

The Department of Transportation is dispatching an emergency task force to try to fix the problems plaguing Newark Liberty International Airport, including two high-speed, redundant telecom lines that are now up and running.

One of the region's busiest ports has come under scrutiny since revelations that its tower has lost contact with several planes in recent months.
