The man was sitting in a car about 9:45 a.m. in the 800 block of North Cambridge Avenue when he was shot, police said.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of a local dedicated lineman, Wade Singletary, who gave his life in the line of duty," the Slidell Police Department post said.
