Republican Ohio Auditor Keith Faber has launched a bid for state attorney general. His announcement Monday came as elections for Ohio's five open statewide elective offices began ramping up.

Ohio Auditor Keith Faber is running for Ohio Attorney General. Faber, a 59-year-old Republican, is the first candidate to throw his hat in the ring for the state’s top law enforcement officer. Ohio Attorney General will be on the November 2026 ballot,

Republican Attorney General Dave Yost announced Thursday that he is running to be the next governor of Ohio — wedging the news between the departure from the race of a top rival and the expected entry as soon as next week of a new one.

Faber is the first candidate from either party to formally announce a run for attorney general. If he's elected, he'll be the second auditor in a row to immediately move into the AG's office. Current attorney general Dave Yost, who's announced he's running for the Republican nomination for governor, was elected in 2018 after two term as auditor.

Faber is the latest Republican to announce their intentions for the 2026 election. All of Ohio’s statewide executive officeholders are barred by term limits from running again, leaving every seat up for grabs.
