Subway Series continues this weekend when the New York Mets host the crosstown rival New York Yankees for three games at Citi Field. It is potentially a World Series preview, though neither team has looked the part of a World Series contender the last 3-4 weeks.

As soon as the Major League Baseball schedule was released last year, the Fourth of July jumped off the page. In addition to the usual pomp and circumstance of the holiday weekend, the schedule promised a Subway Series matchup between the Mets and Yankees.

Left fielder Brandon Nimmo responded with a lead-off double. He was followed by right fielder Juan Soto, who was looking to exact revenge on his former team after an abysmal first go-around where he went 1-for-10 in the Bronx — and he did.
