At the one-month mark of Donald Trump’s second term as president, his approval rating in a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS tilts negative but still lands above the level he reached at any point in his first four years in office.

The percentage of young people identifying as LGBTQ+ has increased over the past two years from an average of 18.8% in 2020 through 2022 to an average of 22.7%, according to the poll. Gallup also observed an increase of nearly 2 percentage points among millennials and an increase of 1 percentage point among Generation X.

Almost 10% of Americans identify as something other than heterosexual, according to more than 14,000 interviews conducted by Gallup over the course of 2024. "The number has been increasing over time," said Gallup senior editor Jeff Jones.

The percentage of U.S. adults who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or something other than heterosexual has continued to rise, hitting an all-time high of 9.3%, up from 7.6% in 2023, according to a Gallup report released Thursday.

Trump’s idea has been floated previously by Musk, who was in attendance for the address. Musk responded this week to a post on his social media platform X suggesting that Trump announce a “DOGE Dividend” with a $5,000 tax refund check sent to taxpaying households, saying he would “check with the President.”

Speaking at a meeting of global financiers and tech executives hosted by Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund in Miami, Trump said he is also considering using another 20% of the savings to pay down the federal government's debt.
