An American accused of sexually assaulting a Pennsylvania college student in 2013 and later sending her a Facebook message that said “So I raped you” was extradited Thursday from France to the United States.

According to an arrest warrant, Ian Cleary texted the victim, “So I raped you. I’ll never do it to anyone ever again," in December 2019.

Ian Cleary, 31, who sent the accuser a Facebook message that said "So I raped you," was handed over to U.S. authorities in Paris.

Ian Cleary, 31, of Saratoga, California, was detained in April in Metz after a three-year search. He has been held in custody pending extradition proceedings since his arrest.

He was tracked down after sending the former Gettysburg College student a Facebook message that said “So I raped you.”

The appearance by Ian Cleary, 31, of Saratoga, California, came a day after he arrived back in the U.S. from France where he was detained in April.

Ian Cleary is accused of stalking an 18-year-old Gettysburg College student, sneaking into her dorm and sexually assaulting her while she texted friends for help.

The Appeal Court prosecutors’ office in Metz, in northeastern France, says Cleary was handed over to U.S. authorities at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport on Thursday.
