The New Orleans Saints will interview New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka for their vacancy at head coach.

Mike Kafka’s future could turn in a lot of different directions. The Giants assistant head coach/offensive coordinator revealed Thursday that he is under contract in 2025, which means he can be blocked from interviewing to make a lateral move even though another team might allow him to regain the play-calling responsibilities that he lost to head coach Brian Daboll after the 2023 season.

Here’s a wild card for you. The New Orleans Saints have reportedly requested an interview with New York Giants assistant head coach Mike Kafka:

"Buzz" has emerged, pointing to Kafka being dismissed in the event Daboll remains in place, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer writes. Such a development would likely be centered on Daboll reclaiming full control of the Giants offense.

Mike Kafka continues to draw interest in head coaching spots despite being stripped of play-calling duties in 2024.

The Saints announced Thursday that they've completed a virtual interview with New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka for their coaching vacancy. Kafka becomes the second known candidate to interview for the position, joining Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver.
