With the New Orleans Saints able to get out of the Derek Carr contract after this season, they could find a potential replacement in division in the form of Atlanta Falcons' former starter Kirk Cousins.

Though Derek Carr may not be able to play in Week 17, he'll be seeing the Las Vegas Raiders for the first time since his release.

It doesn’t sound like the Saints are moving on from Derek Carr in 2025. ESPN reports the team’s salary cap constraints won’t allow it:

New Orleans Saints quarterback Jake Haener is set to make his first NFL start this coming Sunday in place of Derek Carr. On Friday, Haener told the media that Carr has been nothing but supportive this week in the quarterback room.

Monday night's game between the New Orleans Saints and the Green Bay Packers also became an opportunity for former Las Vegas Raiders stars Derek Carr and Josh Jacobs to catch up. The two used to star for the Raiders' offense; Carr played for the Raiders from 2014-22 while Jacobs wore the AFC West team's colors from 2019-23.
