A SpaceX Dragon spacecraft is headed for its 50th rendezvous with the International Space Station, bringing cargo and a new reboost capability after having launched from the Space Coast early Sunday.

SpaceX launched its 33rd Dragon cargo mission early Sunday morning (Aug. 24), sending 5,000 pounds of cargo toward the International Space Station.

Not surprisingly, the setback delayed plans for the 10th flight test, but on Friday, SpaceX announced a target date for the highly anticipated event: Sunday, August 24, with a launch window opening at 6:30 p.m. CT (7:30 p.m. ET).

SpaceX, meanwhile, hopes to transform the rocket business by eventually landing the first-stage booster on a platform floating a few hundred miles off Florida's northeastern coast, near Jacksonville.

A SpaceX capsule carrying a decorated former NASA astronaut and three paying customers returned home from the International Space Station Tuesday.

The four members of the SpaceX Crew-10 mission climbed aboard the Crew Dragon Endurance and departed the International Space Station on Friday evening for an overnight trip and safe splashdown

The three-man one-woman crew plans to spend at least six months and possibly longer aboard the International Space Station.
