The Cleveland Browns saw Shedeur Sanders play a very sharp game in their preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers. Unfortunately, he missed the team's second preseason game due to an oblique injury.

Sanders, a fifth-round pick, suffered an oblique strain during practice prior to the Browns' second preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles and didn't have an opportunity to carry over momentum seized against the Panthers in the preseason opener.

The onus would then fall on Stefanski, the person who decides when the quarterbacks will play. Against the Rams he gave starter Joe Flacco the first few drives, let rookie Dillon Gabriel finish out the half (12-of-19, 129 yards, one touchdown), and then put in Sanders to start the third quarter.
