Detroit Red Wings legend Alex Delvecchio died on Tuesday, July 1, at 93 years old. The Hall-of-Famer played all 24 of his NHL seasons (1950-74) with the Red Wings, playing in 1,550 games, winning three Stanley Cups and three Lady Byng Memorial Trophies during his career.

A center who skated alongside Gordie Howe on the team’s famed “Production Line,” he helped win three Stanley Cups and stood out for his clean play over 24 years in Detroit.

Delvecchio, a quiet magician who played in Howe’s shadow but was immensely talented in his own right, died Tuesday at the age of 93.
