THE Lyrid meteor shower is due to reach peak activity this week, lighting up Scottish skies with a spectacular show of stars.
STARGAZERS are in for a treat as the Lyrids meteor shower lights up the skies, with up to 18 shooting stars an hour expected.
The peak of the shower is expected on Wednesday night, 22 April, while it has been ongoing since the 16th this month.
