At their favorite raw bar, Sandy discovered her clam had a pearl inside of it. Experts say the odds of that happening are 1 in 100,000. So they decided to turn the rare stone into an engagement ring.

The jeweler told her the 9.8-millimeter pearl comes from a mercenaria or hard clam. The jeweler wanted the couple to work with Marc Fishbone from Black Orchid Jewelers, whom Sikorski knew already.
