Hurricane season might sound like the worst time to cruise, but it’s actually a favorite for some travelers. One of the main reasons is that fares are significantly cheaper.
Cruises on Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and other cruise lines were canceled or altered as Florida ports closed due to the storms, forcing several cruise ships to stay safely at sea until danger passed.
Its ship, Norwegian Sky, which normally cruises between Miami and the Bahamas, is sailing from its present location off the coast of Cancun, Mexico, and is expected to arrive in St. Thomas Monday.
Because of this, Carnival Cruise Line, which sails regular Mexican Riviera cruises from Long Beach, Calif., is making some proactive changes.
