California is the US state most affected by wildfires as of 2023, according to the National Interagency Coordination Center. Extreme heat and longer droughts have driven more intense fires, and that has prompted insurance companies to flee.

LOS ANGELES − As multiple wildfires continue to burn through Southern California, evacuation orders remain in place throughout the region through at least Thursday. Authorities continue to investigating the causes of three wildfires that began burning in Southern California on Tuesday and two fires that sparked north of Los Angeles and in Hollywood on Wednesday.

Deadly wildfires in the Los Angeles area have sent tens of thousands scrambling for safety and decimated neighborhoods. Wildfire smoke has spread miles from the major blazes as fire crews and the National Guard work to control them.

California homeowners shared video clips of the damaging flames plowing through the Pacific Palisades area as a fire continues to blaze since its start on Tuesday.
