As part of today's PS Plus Essential announcement, Sony has also announced a change to the consoles it'll target from January 2026 onwards. In a year, PS4 games will no longer be the focus of PS Plus updates across the base tier and both PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium.

Sony has announced its intention to shift away from offering PS4 games as part of its monthly PlayStation Plus offerings. Starting in 2026, offering “ PS4 games will no longer be a key benefit” of the service, with Sony instead turning its focus to providing PS5 titles.

You’ll still have access to monthly PS4 games you’ve already redeemed, but Sony is shifting its focus more fully to PS5.
