U.S. Vice President JD Vance has held talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as New Delhi looks to avoid U.S. tariffs, negotiate a bilateral trade deal with Washington and strengthen ties with the Trump administration.

The meeting caps the first of a four-day visit by Vance and his family, a trip that underscores India’s importance among countries seeking trade negotiations with the U.S.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hosted US Vice President JD Vance and his family. Recalling their last meeting in February, both leaders reviewed progress in the bilateral relations between India and the US.
