U.S. immigration officials say they intend to deport Kilmar Abrego Garcia to Uganda, after he declined an offer to be deported to Costa Rica in exchange for remaining in jail and pleading guilty to human smuggling charges.

Abrego, wrongfully deported to a notorious prison in El Salvador, now faces removal to Uganda just a day after being freed from a Tennessee jail.

Mr. Abrego Garcia, who was wrongfully deported to El Salvador, is keeping a low profile as his lawyers prepare to fight the Trump administration’s proposal to deport him to Uganda.
