One human-rights group called Meta’s fact-checking change “exceedingly dangerous.” That didn’t seem to stop the company.

Meta’s decision to eliminate its fact-checking program marks a sharp reversal for the major social media company, quickly prompting questions over the firm’s direction as President-elect Trump heads back to the Oval Office.

In a post on (where else?) Threads, Mosseri said the company will be shifting away from its opt-in requirement for users to see political content. Instead, political content will be recommended by default, and users will have the ability to adjust the fire hose with three different settings options: less, standard, and more.
