CPD has said police did not assist ICE at all during an operation when federal agents arrested 10 people at a South Loop immigration facility.

The five-hour hearing focused on questions about whether Chicago Police Department brass and officers violated the city’s Welcoming City ordinance, which prohibits all city employees from assisting federal immigration agents in nearly all cases.

At the City’s Committee on Immigrant and Refugee Rights hearing Tuesday morning, City Council members called for transparency from Chicago Police about their involvement in an ICE operation at a South Loop immigration hearing facility on June 4.
