Call of Duty is the best-selling game almost every year, but even that might not be enough to keep up with its ever-ballooning blockbuster budgets. New court filings reveal that 2020's Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War cost $700 million to make over the life of the game,

Thanks to the incredibly sharp eye of GameFile’s Stephen Totilo, he managed to dig out the Activision-stated costs of three major Call of Duty games from 2015 to 2020,

Black Ops 6 reportedly cost Activision $700 million to develop, with Black Ops 3 and Modern Warfare 2019's budgets also revealed via court documents.

Three Call of Duty games published between 2015 and 2020 cost almost $2 billion total in development costs, according to a court filing published in December, as first reported by Game File and reviewed by Polygon.

Activision reveals the massive development budgets of a few Call of Duty games, with some reaching unprecedented figures and setting new records.

For 2019's Modern Warfare, developed by Infinity Ward, the total cost of development was reportedly $640 million with 41 million copies sold. The last one is Black Ops Cold War from 2020. Treyarch and Raven Software's joint project reportedly took $700 million to develop and sold 30 million copies.
