Our family saw Hubbard Glacier calving in multiple places last July 4, 2019 and we were on the cruise ship, not an excursion boat. The glacier is much larger than we expected (thankfully) and it was loud.

SALG52 is correct with the answer to your question, there are a lot of cruise ships that do the Glacier as they sail in to this small bay and turn the ship around for all to view this spectacular, if wanting you can get onboard a smaller boat which the cruise lines organise to get up close to the glacier walls, you can opt for this, but this is not cheap
