My husband and I are so glad we came to this museum. We’ve been to a host of museums, and this was one of the most organized, well-curated history museums we’ve ever seen. It presents the history of …Full review by DrHollyP

I will be arriving in NC either by ferry (from Maine) or driving in via St. Stephen (help is desirable in making this decision). Should I anticipate spending one or two days in traveling to see the museum before going back to USA? If I need to stay longer where would you recommend I stay?

The Black Loyalist museum is quite interactive. There could be quite a lot of reading involved if you want to explore the material. I followed the lives of two inhabitants and spent about 4 hours total. We also did a walking tour exploring the village. Shelburne is like a very small Maine seaside community. Other places along of interest along the coast that you may want to visit/drop in are: Lunenburg really busy, but has a marine museum, Boardwalk, art galleries, etc. It is where the sailing ship Bluenose (on our 10 cent coin) was built. Also, Lockport, a quaint fishing village and home of Marjorie Turner-Bailey, a Black Olympian runner who was also in the series "the Book of Negroes." Do google her name for further details. I would think one day in Shelburne area would be plenty. I stayed in some cottages and they were great. I was down with a walking group of about 55 people about 1 month ago and I did not hear any complaints about any places. Hope this is helpful. There is also a Black Cultural Centre outside of Dartmouth, NS. You may want to look into this online.
